I am a Personal Trainer certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Nutritional Consultant certified through the Global College of Natural Medicine and recently TRX Certified. I have been a Certified Massage Therapist since 1992 after attending massage school at the Institute of Conscious Body Work. I have dedicated my life to health, wellness, fitness and nutrition.
As a child, I was always active. I rode a unicycle, bicycle, skates, skateboard and anything else with at least one wheel. But I never considered myself an athlete. It wasn't until my early twenties that I experienced a dramatic shift in consciousness and chose to focus on my fitness. I started with running and quickly increased my mileage to 7 miles a day. I then began to sxet and reach other fitness goals. One of my goals was to run a marathon – Once I completed the Honolulu Marathon I knew that I could accomplish anything (I also knew that one marathon per lifetime is enough for me).
After finishing the San Francisco AIDS Ride in 2001, I began racing my bike with a local Bay Area cycling team (Go Velo Girls!). I was on my bike six days a week, in addition to taking two-hour spin classes several days each week. As I watched my body change (more like fall apart) I learned that exercise alone was not enough and I began to take a closer look at the way I was fueling my body. This was the beginning of my journey to truly understand nutrition and how it can change your life for better or worse.
We all possess health and vibrancy within us - It might just take a few changes to allow these actualities to shine. Since it’s not realistic to try and be “perfect” all the time I firmly believe in the 80/20 rule. We will take steps to get you to 80% of your perfectly healthy self and you will experience the results every day in how you feel. I will guide you in your fitness and nutrition pursuits so you can meet your goals. All you need to do is show up and do the work.
